Celebrities Helping to End Global Warming
By Laxmi Keshav
Global warming, certainly is one of the hotly debated issues across the world. You will find that it is a topic of discussion and debate for many current affairs programmes on various electronic mediums of communication like television, radio, and internet blogs and sites. It is no surprise given the involvement of celebrities representing various fields. Records suggest that lately, many celebrities have taken a open position on the issue of globalisation which affects our mother earth. Foremost among these is the award winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio who has turned an environmentalist. He is using his celebrity status to bring many environmental issues in general and global warming in particular, into focus and make them topic of debates. HE has made numerous appearances at global warning related events. He has even a created his own documentary titled 11th Hour. Most certainly Leonardo DiCaprio has managed to leverage his celebrity status to bring much needed attention to global warming, as well as other environmental issues. Arnold Schwarzenegger is another well-known actor turned political figure, who has contributed to the cause of enlightenment about the dangers of global warming. He is known as a rather outspoken person. He has put his words into action. As the Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger has passed laws that reduce the greenhouse gasses emitted in the state of California and much more. Last but not the least, former vice president of U.S.A., Mr. Al Gore is well known for his fight against global warming. Al Gore is recognised as one of the first few political personalities who have contributed to the cause of global warming. In fact, he has done more than that. He has produced an award winning documentary, titled "An Inconvenient Truth", which has brought much needed attention to this important issue ultimately help him win Nobel price jointly. Michael Crichton, a well-known author is one of the many celebrities, who have not only shown their support for the environment, but also have spoken out against global warming. In the year 2002, he wrote a book that basically claimed global warming is nothing but a conspiracy theory. In this book, he claimed that many environmentalists are using global warming as a ploy to receive more money for their organizations. His book was met with a mixture of support and criticism. These celebrities have leveraged their celebrity status to bring much attention to the extremely important topic of global warming. These people have used various methods like starting environmental groups, making documentaries and producing television programs to bring global warming into prime focus. There is a widespread belief that this association of celebrities and global warming is targeted towards gaining even more publicity. But the fact remains that it has only helped the cause of global warming. There is no denying the fact that Al Gore's documentary received more success than other documentaries because of his public stature. Such efforts have endured that the serious issue of global warming has gained far wider reach and publicity. Laxmi keshav collects information about issues concerning mankind. What Do Celebrities Look for in a House?
By Julia Vakulenko
Whether it is a Hollywood actor or actress, a famed athlete, or a song diva, there is one thing they all share alike: the comfort of what people call a "celebrity home". And if there is one thing you notice that all celebrity homes have in common, is that it is built for entertaining. Lest it be forgotten, celebrities choose to live in a house that can entertain not only family and friends, but colleagues, the media, and whoever they please as well. Celebrities like to purchase or build a home that can shine as brightly as they do. The house that they have to live in has to stand as much in the limelight with or without them inside it. What with the furious camera flashes of the paparazzi and a chance for the home to be showcased in television or magazines, the house has to be built with utmost precision, attention to detail, and style. As good as a celebrity home looks, it cannot be called completely as such unless it's standing on a great piece of land. Most celebrities choose to build their homes in the posh Beverly Hills, the sun and beach of Maui, or the excitement and adventure of exotic places. Only the best will do for these famous people. They either choose a land that is flocked with other great celebrities, or a land known for its pristine beauty and enriched with culture and history. The reasons why celebrities build or purchase a house plays a great influence to what the house is going to be like and where it is to be located. The most common reason for celebrities to build their homes is to give them a chance to get away from the busy schedule that often comes with the package of being a famous person. Their house has to be able to entertain their family and the guests they plan to spend their weekend or holiday with. Space is an important aspect for celebrities to include in their home. The house has to be spacious and yet still have a good stretch of land for them to roam about. The weather also plays a significant part in choosing a celebrity home. A place where there is sun to perfect their tan and a cool breeze to enjoy lounging around for is sure to entice any celebrity. As they are accustomed to service, the community they choose to live in should have great resources available and accessible for them. Great shops, great spas, great restaurants, and activity areas are all they would need to be lured into living in that community. Whether it is a vacation home or a permanent residence, all celebrity homes should have privacy. Celebrities prefer homes that provide them the necessary privacy to enjoy their life away from the glaring eyes of the paparazzi. Some great sports celebrities are already living in a place that offers them all that and more, that is in Tampa Bay, Florida. Tampa Bay offers celebrities great real estate to choose from fit for entertaining even the finest kings. With great hot spots and the sun and breeze to enjoy, celebrities are offered the best of every world. Julia Vakulenko is a licensed broker associate with Tampa4U.com Realty. Celebrities Defined - A Brief Overview of Entertainment PR
By Mona L. Loring
Being a "celebrity" is quite different from working as an actor or a musician... you can do your job and even take in your handsome paycheck, but at the end of the day-you're only regarded as "star" when people know who you are. So what makes you stand out above the rest? And let us note that when we are talking about the entertainment industry so "the rest" is a pretty large number. You can argue as much as you want, however, in the end-- a publicist is what makes you officially stand out. A high-caliber publicist introduces (or re-introduces) you to the public. Without the public consistently caring about you, it is near impossible to succeed as a person in the entertainment industry with celebrity status. You are not a celebrity unless the public wants to know more about you and what you are currently doing-- and the media is the integral passageway to your desired audience. Now it is important to keep in mind that for most talent, a publicist can be unnecessary. In fact, if a PR firm is legitimate, they will turn down prospective clients seeking their services unless that talent has a solid reason for needing the exposure. Day in and day out, publicists are contacted with inquiries from people who assume the key to instant stardom is a publicist. Sure, we do help you get there but you have to crawl before you walk. You can't just assume we can get you featured in Vanity Fair just because you do the job that you do (no matter how well you do it). You have to have something going for you that will set you apart from everyone doing the very same job as you. Why are you original? What makes you the next big thing? Why should the world care? Any logical publicist would tell you that they cannot generate press, create appearance (red carpet) requests, or fuel public interest if the talent has nothing of consequence to report. Most people who are at the right stage for a publicist are on the cusp breaking through to the next level in their career. That can be anything as minor as landing a small role on a hit television show to releasing an album and touring with someone who is getting a ton of what we call-"buzz." Now on the flip side, even though some publicists say that you have to ripen your craft prior to seeking PR representation, it is not necessarily true. If that were the case, reality stars would never acquire fame for what they do-- being themselves. They may not have much experience in the public eye, but they do have something... Reality stars have a TV show behind them which has created the buzz they need for their publicity efforts to take effect. Coming back to the focal issue at hand-- being the term "celebrity" and all its glory. Talent and their reps need to understand exactly why it is NOT a good idea to pass on publicity. As discussed, there are times to wait and ripen yet times to seize the moment as well. You need to assess every aspect of your career. There are a number of actors who choose to refuse PR services assuming their management can just "field the requests" and that is all they need. Not true. Unless you are someone like Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt (who trust me, need a publicist for other reasons!) you will seldom be approached by media. Even if you're promoting a hot new movie, there are only a handful of media outlets that will cover your project and even then-they won't necessarily come to you for the interview. There are many people involved in a project who can comment on the experience: directors, supporting actors, producers, etc. If you want to make sure that you are noted for your achievement, you need a publicist to assist you. Taking that a step further, not only will your publicist assist you but they will make sure to do so in a way that stands in line with branding you as the celebrity you want to be. This branding comes into play with every detail of your career. Which events you attend and how often, what you wear in a photo shoot, what you decide to say about an experience, and much more are all the actions you take which come together to brand you as a celebrity. To end, let's take the idea further. Becoming a celebrity is different than just getting famous. The word famous is not as everlasting as the term celebrity. Sure, by definition they both mean the same concept but in theory-a celebrity should be timeless. Remaining a celebrity is an on-going job and the word doesn't come lightly. You need a team built around you to help you stay that way. Mona Loring, president of MLC PR brings forth solid experience in public relations, magazine writing, copywriting, marketing, and business development. Holding powerful positions such as public relations director, copywriter, entrepreneur and leader of media relations for a number of charity organizations, Loring offers original PR approaches and resourceful insight. http://www.monaloring.com

Celebrities, Publicity, & Damage Control Techniques
By Paul Davis
Celebrities prefer specific media outlets when they have to do damage control and reclaim public approval. "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno announced the birth of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's baby girl Suri when it was phoned into him within two minutes after the birth. Happy and celebratory shows that make people laugh are great for joyous occasions. Cruise couch-hopped on Oprah Winfrey's talk show while proclaiming his love for Katie Holmes apparently feeling Oprah was the ideal venue to persuade questioning hearts. Paris Hilton went on the "Late Show" with David Letterman after she was released from prison in an attempt to prove she's since matured and moved on. Michael Richards known as "Kramer" sought help from Rev. Al Sharpton to fix his public image after a series of racial slurs at a comedy club where he was performing. Oprah revealed her drug use in an interview with Billy Bush, the cousin of President Bush. CIA agent Barry Seal attested to George Jr. and Jeb Bush both using cocaine, explaining why Oprah chose a possibly sympathetic Billy to reveal her own crack use should she need to turn the tables on her show later if Billy got too ugly. Pamela Anderson announced on her website several wedding ceremonies for her and Kid Rock in an effort to get media attention by way of repetition. "We got married on August 3rd in a Beverly Hills court house before we left to honeymoon in Detroit! But our real wedding was July 29th in France. We're having the best time. Looking forward to more ceremonies ..." Just over two months later the two divorced and dueled over who filed divorce documents first. Irreconcilable differences were mentioned along with Pam's miscarriage. Paul Davis is a highly sought after professional speaker, life purpose coach, worldwide minister, and change master. Career Planning For Internet Celebrities
By Giovanni L Gallucci
Many people think that having a career as a celebrity is short lived. While they may say this about movie stars, they really think this way about Internet celebrities. The reason why so many people feel that Internet celebrities will not have a long lasting career is because the concept of Internet celebrities is extremely new. The reason why there hasn't been Internet celebrity careers lasting longer than 10 years, is because there hasn't been any major celebrity that came from the Internet in the past ten years. However, just because this method of fame is new and different doesn't mean that there isn't a future for Internet celebrities. There are many opportunities that you can have if you are an Internet celebrity; however, it all depends on whether or not you received world-class representation. If you live your celebrity life without representation, you will quickly find that opportunities and possibilities will fly past you, and you are unable to grasp onto them. This is because many people who become Internet celebrities are not aware of the entertainment business, and how it actually runs. This is why it is imperative that the moment you become more than just an average Internet user, you begin to seek out professional representation. Many Internet celebrities go on to have very lucrative lives through sponsors and product support. This is because many companies like to sponsor Internet celebrities that relate to their specific buying audience. If your main following is through individuals that are in their twenties, than you will find that many companies that sell products or services that are geared towards that age demographic will want to sponsor you, the same is true if you are known for partying, many liquor companies will want to have you lead one of their parties. If you find that sponsoring is not what you want to take part of, there are also many other opportunities you can take with your Internet fame. You can help create online communities, and become a spokesperson for various companies. This is a great way to be able to travel as well as make a decent amount of money. However, like anything else, this will be out of your reach if you don't have professional representation. It is very easy to understand that just because you are an Internet celebrity; it doesn't mean that your life as a celebrity has to end quickly. If you are smart with your business decisions and hire on individuals that are committed to seeing you succeed, than you will have a very lucrative and long-lasting career. Of course, the main benefit of having professional representation is the fact that they will have ideas and creative solutions to keep you in the public's eye longer. Many people have found that without their agent, they would not be in the business they are in for very long. This is because your agent has connections and years of industry knowledge that can provide you with many years of sponsorship, as well as income-generating opportunities. However, this will only happen if you have a professional and reliable representation company backing you in your new Internet fame. With over a decade of expertise building communities online and search engine technology, I am recognized as a social media expert and a leader in search engine marketing. Celebrities Discover The Amazing Chihuahua!
By Bill Knell
Some say it started with the Taco Bell dog. A five hundred million dollar ad campaign featured a talking Chihuahua which continually repeated the slogan, “Yo quiero Taco Bell,” which is Spanish for “I want Taco Bell.” Then came the Legally Blond films and the unstoppable Bruiser. The topping on the cake was when Paris Hilton appeared on the cover of Seventeen magazine and later tried living The Simple Life on Fox TV with Tinkerbell, her pet Chihuahua. Celebrities have discovered what many pet owners already knew: Chihuahuas are the best dogs to own and care for. In the process, they’ve set off a Chihuahua Craze that is reaching towering proportions. When most people think of Celebrities and their toy dogs, Yorkshire Terriers, Toy Poodles, Pekinese, Lhasas and Shih Tzus usually come to mind. That’s because famous folks like Audrey Hepburn, Zsa Zsa Gabor and Mia Farrow were regularly photographed with their beloved pets. In Audrey‘s case, it was a Yorkie. In her early days of fame, Mia Farrow was rarely seen out in public without her Lhasa. Zsa Zsa and Eva Gabor loved to walk through the hot spots of Beverly Hills and be photographed with a multitude of Toy Poodles, Pekinese and Shih Tzus. But times have changed! The always innovative Madonna may have set the standard for change not long ago when she sported her beloved Chihuahua, Chiquita, for a press photo op. Noah Wyle, one of the hot stars of ER, was recently photographed with his Chihuahua while on holiday. Jennifer Lopez has also joined the exclusive club of famous Chihuahua owners. Younger celebrities like Britney Spears, Hilary Duff, Paris Hilton, Christina Ricci, Jordon, Reese Witherspoon and members of Simple Plan have found themselves attracted to these fabulous canines and brought a huge amount of attention to them. Chihuahuas make great pets because they are very low maintenance, the world’s smallest dogs and longest lived breed. Celebs love the fact that Chihuahuas prefer the company of humans more then they enjoy being with other animals and can easily accompany their owners everywhere. Chihuahuas love to be held or carried around in their very own shoulder bag and that makes them especially attractive to busy celebrities and people who are always on the move. Unlike most toy dog breeds, the Chihuahua is not a created one. The first widespread mention of Chihuahuas occurred during the mid to late 1800's in weekly or monthly tabloids that specialized in tales of the American West. Highly fictionalized accounts of the small dogs spread by these publications claimed they were actually a mix of rodent and canine or had been magically created by Medicine Men. In reality, Chihuahuas were first noticed along the Arizona-Mexico border by settlers, ranchers and those passing through. This lead to the animals becoming originally-known as Arizona Dogs. Once it began obvious that these cute little dogs were actually coming out of the Chihuahua region of Mexico where they had been discovered in the early 1800's, the regional name stuck. For the first time ever this past year, Chihuahuas have made the top ten list of most registered or licensed dogs in many areas of the USA. There can be no doubt that part of their popularity comes from the media exposure the breed has received and the fact that big-name celebrities are favoring the breed. But it also has to do with the fact that Chihuahuas are small, very easy to care for and live a long time. Most Chihuahuas eat dry dog food and feed once every couple of hours or as their hunger moves them. A small, full bowl of dry food and dish of water easily gets them through an entire day. Chihuahuas are known for being healthy, hearty dogs that do well in virtually any situation. They can easily deal with temperatures of forty to ninety degrees Fahrenheit. When it gets a bit too chilly, doggie clothes solve the problem. When it gets too hot, Chihuahuas are always happy to enjoy their owner’s air conditioning. Most have few health issues and live from fifteen to nineteen years of age, with an average lifespan of sixteen years. Those wanting to breed Chihuahuas are often surprised to find that they can give birth up to twice a year, normally have from one to five puppies and take just sixty-five days to give birth. Few have problem births and the survival rate of pups is very high compared to other toy breeds. Chihuahua puppies are ready to be adopted by eight weeks. Because celebrities are constantly exposed to new situations and always on the go, they can appreciate the fact that most Chihuahuas tend to attach themselves emotionally to one person or family and rarely bolt if given the opportunity. All Chihuahua owners appreciate the intelligence of the breed. They are very easy to train and adjust well to change. In areas where it’s legal, Chihuahuas walk obediently near their owners without a leash. Chihuahuas come from the same parent breed of dogs that Chinese Cresteds, Mexican Hairless Dogs and Xolos do. These are known to be the most ancient of all dog breeds still existing today. Drawings of what appear to be Chihuahuas are found throughout the world, some being thousands of years old. This makes us wonder when and where the Breed actually originated? Most Chihuahuas are either shorthair or longhair, come in an amazing variety of colors and purebreds tend to weigh from under a pound to no more then six pounds fully grown. As Chihuahuas are featured in more and more films, television shows and become the beloved pets of an ever growing list of the rich and famous, we should all remember that they are more then just the hot breed of the moment. Chihuahuas are great pets that are very loyal to their owners. If you are planning to adopt a Chihuahua, do so because the breed is attractive to your needs, desires and lifestyle, not because Paris owns one. Stress Affects Everyone, Even Celebrities
By Kathleen Patalsky
TMZ recently reported breaking news that, gasp, Britney Spears received a parking tickets and ran out of gas all in the same day! The online comments from TMZ’s post were mostly from concerned fans wondering if the judgmental media like TMZ could push Britney over the edge, maybe even to suicide. One fan wrote, “When someone is that close to the edge and you run such headlines, you only help to push them off further. Harvey Levin was on Larry King going on about respecting privacy during difficult times. This girl is under so much stress, irrespective of whether YOU deem her to be a bad mother or not, there is no need to push someone towards a suicide attempt. How much more do you think she can take” The buzzword lately when it comes to celebrities in trouble, is stress. However, stress affects everyone and it needs to be taken seriously. Donald Trump recently proclaimed that Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Britney were all under ‘varying amounts of stress.” And he wanted to get them on his show. It is true that most people underestimate the power of stress on a persons mind, body and spirit. Here's a refresher course on stress for those of you who didn’t major in health back in college. Stress is something that affects everyone’s lives. There is good stress known at eustress, and bad stress. An example of eustress is when you are getting married, having a baby, starting a new job or moving into a new house. Not negative events, but still very stress inducing. Bad stress events are getting divorced, losing a loved one or battling with an addiction. As we can recall, Ms. Spears is undergoing several forms of stress right now and it has to be severely affecting her everyday life. There is short-term stress and long-term stress. Studies have shown that there are two stress situations, short-term stress in which a person undergoes a mild to severely stressful event, and then shortly after it returns back to a neutral state of stress. An example could be going for a series of job interviews in a week, but when the week is through you are hired and can soon get back to ‘normal’. The other type of stress is the most dangerous to your health-long term stress. It is the case where certain stress inducers simply stick around for a while. Examples are going through a long divorce, having an abusive relationship, or having an overly stressful schedule for an extended period of time. Another outcome of stress is higher levels of cortisol in your body than normal. Side effects of cortisol include higher blood pressure and blood sugar as well as increased fat storage in the abdomen. Celebrities and everyday people need to monitor their stress and make life changes as needed. For more about this topic visit www.britneyscomeback.com. Get The Jewelry Worn By Celebrities
By Arsene Bergkamp
Ever watched a celebrity walk down the red carpet with dazzling jewelry? Well, you can buy it in both a price and inexpensive form. Whenever celebrities are going to make an appearance at an important event, they will often be approached by jewelry, as well as clothing, designers and manufacturers to wear a particular piece in order to help promote it. Then, when that piece finally does go on sale, many people will want to buy that piece because they saw it in magazines or on television. Whenever people see their favorite celebrity walking down the red carpet wearing a particular piece of jewelry or clothing, that particular piece automatically goes up in value. It’s well coveted as many people buy celebrity jewelry in order to look and act just like that celebrity, almost as if wearing it makes them feel like a celebrity, too. The problem is that not many people can afford such pieces because the cost does go up so much. For this reason, there are many companies who will sell artificial or fake jewelry and accessories that are designed and manufactured to look just like that particular piece. If you buy artificial or fake version of jewelry worn by a celebrity, nobody will be able to tell. The secret is yours to keep as you wear the jewelry to look and act like your favorite celebrity while saving a load of money in the process. Artificial jewelry will undoubtedly cost a mere fraction of what the real pieces cost, which is very good for you, the consumer. You can find celebrity jewelry, of course, by going straight to the manufacturer promoting it. If that seems to be a little beyond your price range, you can always try the manufacturers of artificial or fake jewelry and accessories, which can be found online by using your favorite search engine. So, the next time you see your favorite celebrity walking down the red carpet, pay special attention to the jewelry and clothing they are wearing. It’s no mistake that they are wearing what they are wearing. It is a promotion for the pieces and you can own it all. It just depends on how much you’re willing to spend. Whether it’s real or fake you’re after, you can find it all, you just have to know where to look and, chances are, if your favorite celebrity is wearing it, you won’t have to look very far because it will be much in demand.
Holding powerful positions such as public relations director, copywriter, entrepreneur and leader of media relations for a number of charity organizations, Loring offers original PR approaches and resourceful insight. http://www.monaloring.com | |

My areas of expertise encompass community building, web design and development, website architecture, online marketing, new media, natural web site optimization, online viral marketing, and social media consulting.

Should Celebrities Become Lingerie Designers?
By Paul Bowers
The team hasjust returned from the UK's main lingerie event, Harrogate Lingerie & Swimwear Exhibition in search of exquisite new spring/summer 2008 designs. Buyers always look forward to new lingerie and swimwear trends and innovations as highlighted on Harrogate catwalk. This year is was Caprice that stole the show with the launch of her new lingerie range. Former supermodel, Caprice graced the catwalk at the show’s finale. The high visibility of Caprice brings into question the latest phenomena of celebrities becoming lingerie designers. Is Caprice just another victim of jumping on the Elle Macpherson celebrity lingerie bandwagon? Elle has proven herself within the world of lingerie, as a businesswoman and hands on design partner. With sales reaching approximately £40 million a year, Macpherson definitely means business. Much of Macpherson’s success can be attributed to her reputation for producing high quality and stylish products with an excellent fit. Caprice, former blonde supermodel turned singer/actress turned Big Brother housemate turned lingerie designer was quoted in the Telegraph as saying, “I know everything about this business, except for the technical part…I’m not interested in the technical side…I only design…I don’t know how to make a bra.” What can we expect next? Perhaps Jessica Simpson will grace the next Harrogate catwalk with her new collection in February. While celebrities try their hand at lingerie design, many companies remain committed to promoting designers they believe are the best in the industry, those who demonstrate high quality, technical superiority, fashion leadership and innovative lingerie designs. By Paul Bowers, I write for Mio Destino and for it's blog site MioBlog writing articles of interest to their international clients. The company sells internationally, high end, designer lingerie, swimwear, corsets, pyjamas and mens underwear predominantly from Italy and France but also from the US, Canada and other parts of Europe. You can sign up for a FREE Newsletter and FREE to enter competitions if you visit the Mio Destino website. If you like my articles then why not sign up to my the MioBlog. The company is currently working on a high end designer collection called Hypnotique which will be launched in the next month.

She has one of the hardest working Tampa Real Estate team in Florida. Please feel free to copy any of Julia's articles as long as you credit her and a link to her website.
How To Contact Celebrities Using MySpace
By Jordan McAuley
According to a recent Nielsen/NetRatings survey, 46 million people visited MySpace in July 2006, each spending an average of two hours and 15 minutes on the site. So what makes MySpace so popular? First it lets users create their own free profile, including photos, videos, and music. Users can also completely customize the layout, colors, and text of their profiles including blogs, event announcements, bulletin posts, and more. Extremely popular with teens and young adults, MySpace is part of a growing new trend on the Internet of “social networking” sites. Although there are multiple social networking sites online including Friendster, Facebook, and Xanga. MySpace is the most popular. It also has the most celebrities as real members. MySpace is so popular, in fact, that News Corp. bought it for $580 million. Celebrities know that one of the benefits of being on MySpace is that when they make a post to their MySpace blog talking about something they're working on or announce an event such as a live appearance or autograph signing, their messages will be viewed directly by their fans without having to rely on email lists, spend a lot of money on advertising, etc. that may or may not get their message out in time. To being contacting celebrities using MySpace, first set up your profile. Then you invite your friends to link their profiles to yours -- and that’s when the fun begins! Most of the people linking to you and to your friends will have the same interests, live in the same town, etc. So it's a great way to keep in touch with old friends and also make new ones, which is why MySpace is called a "social networking" site. Think of it like six degrees of separation (but in actuality it's more like three degrees online!). Although MySpace is currently used mostly by teens, more young adults and adults are signing up every day (including celebrities). So despite what you may have heard about old men setting up profiles on MySpace to lure young children, most people use it to keep in touch with other people like themselves and to make new friends. You can search for peope by zip code, city, high school, college, networking category (marketing, publishing, etc.), and more. This lets you find other people you already know or would like to meet, because they share either the same background or the same interests, career, or hobbies you do. MySpace allows its users to share intimate details about their life (sometimes a little too intimate!) that you would perhaps never learn without it since most people put on airs in person. As society becomes more and more socially cut off with technological advances like caller id, email, and text messages, people are now looking for more and more ways to connect on a personal level while still utilizing "cool" technology. MySpace lets them do just that, and celebrities are no exception. They can now communicate with their fans without having to give out their personal information. Now when they meet their fans they can say "look me up on MySpace and send me a message!" Larger-than-life celebrities use MySpace to promote themselves. Madonna, for instance, posts news about her latest album releases, song downloads, screen savers, and more on her profile. Recently it linked to MTV.com so fans could vote for her in the five MTV Video Music Awards categories she was nominated for. Celebrities like Madonna make no qualms about using MySpace as a savvy marketing and promotional tool. As of this article she had 71,752 friends linked to her profile and 19,214 comments! And that doesn't even count the hundreds if not thousands of messages and new friend requests she probably receives on a daily basis. However, many celebrities actually set up their profiles themselves, read their messages, and respond to fans directly. Janice Dickinson, the former "love her or hate her" judge on "America's Next Top Model" has her own profile. She used it to announce casting calls for her reality show "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency" on Oxygen, and lists Jose Canseco as one of her top friends. Adult star Jenna Jameson uses her profile to blog about her life and show off photos of herself with stars like Paris Hilton. And yes, Paris has her own profile too (with sister Nikki Hilton as one of her friends, of course!). To set up your own MySpace profile, visit http://www.myspace.com and click on Sign Up in the top right-hand corner.
