Do Celebrities Benefit from Philanthropy?
By Jaime Zepeda
When Warren Buffet announced in a press conference that he was going to give Bill and Melinda Gates $1.5billion a year for their foundation, he stated that his family knew their wealth was meant to, in part, benefit society. Bill and Melinda in the same conference nodded in agreement, being themselves the biggest philanthropist couple in the world. These three rich magnanimous souls feel compelled to give back, to let others benefit from their wealth and power. They are selfless and seek nothing in return. Celebrities and philanthropists of the Gates kind are the few exceptions to the political world: they give money to campaigns and causes and expect nothing back. What could they expect? They are already rich, famous, and substantially powerful in their own regard, how could they benefit from less poverty or free universal preschool? Directly, they cannot. Money coming out of celebrities' pockets stays out of their pockets. Knowing this, could it be that they seek something else, something not so tangible as cash? Celebrities and philanthropists have as much as we could imagine to want: money, fame, public acceptance, great influence at work. They have all these amenities while tackling one major necessary attachment: loss of privacy. As long as the idea of fame has been adored, so has our interest in those who relish in that fame. The American public, in this particular case, loves to hear about the latest celebrity breakup or the Hollywood star currently in rehab, or the singer who just ran over a dog, etc. Details, details, details. An industry has flourished over this quasi-obsession (it is worse in other countries, like England, for example, where tabloids are a daily necessity). Billions of dollars have been made from the plights and privacy of the famed. So has the paparazzi. The cameraman with a penchant for the "not-now" time celebrities often enjoy at the beach or with their kids is now a staple of our pop culture. Mainly because it is one of the main providers of it. What does this all mean for celebrities? It means that a counter-industry has been created to counter their existence. While they work in Hollywood and Silicon Valley, the Obsession Industry has no boundaries when it comes to workplace. They go where the action is, no matter how private it may appear to the rest of society. The more forbidden the better, so the OI hungers for the one in a million shot or story. The celebrity and famed community have often tried to hamper the reach of these nosey neds, claiming that taking pictures of them in their own home is against the law, or that a story is personal and should not be publicized, or that coming up to them with their baby in hand is dangerous for the little tyke. Almost all of these have been unsuccessful attempts. Court order after court order, judges have not been able to cement what these philanthropists want: a law for privacy. A constitutional amendment making privacy part of the Bill of Rights has been suggested...but as of today, nothing. Could it be that celebrities want to use their air of goodwill to pull along a law that will save their privacy? Are they lobbying indirectly, giving money to charities and campaigns in exchange for a push for an addition to the bill of rights? Adding the amount of money given by celebrities, they must truly cherish their alone time.

Do Celebrities Exploit Baby Adoptions?
By Morgan Hamilton
Thousands of children and babies have been abandoned by their parents all over the world. As a result, they need to be adopted so that they can have a better life and a secure beginning. However, it is not possible to find homes for all of these orphaned and abandoned children. Fortunately, baby adoptions have been in the news a lot lately due to celebrities. To be honest, I have a hard time dealing with how they are going about doing it, even though I am glad they are putting the spotlight on adoption. These babies are adopted from places they have never been before and may never see again. Now, I really don’t mind that celebrities are encouraging baby adoptions, but I have a problem with them not realizing that charity should begin at home. In my opinion, you should start in your own back yard if you want to save the world. The US may seem to be a privileged nation, but it can be easy to forget that many people and children in our own nation also need help. I’m trying to say that our nation’s orphaned and abandoned are also good enough for baby adoptions. These poor children do not have a better chance of having a good life than any one else in the world, even if they are from the U.S. You should take a good look at your own country if you don’t think that this is true. I have also noticed that older babies and children are often forgotten. The high cost baby adoptions that are going on are generally only for newborns. I think that baby adoptions should be about love. It should make the world a better place for children. Celebrities should partake in baby adoptions in other parts of the world as quietly as possible. Of course, I realize this isn’t always their choice, but they should still try to keep it quiet. Baby adoptions that are done by celebrities are often sensationalized and appear to be going on for the wrong reasons. There are babies and children everywhere who desperately need a home, and there is no need to jet off across the globe to find them. Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and great tips regarding all aspects concerning Baby Adoptions. Visit our site for more helpful information about Baby Adoptions and other similar topics.

Who Really Owns Celebrities?
By Rebecca Garland
Celebrities today seem to be up for grabs. Photographers and tabloid writers feel free to spy on celebrities and follow them constantly. Celebrities seem to have different feeling about this. Some celebrities play along with the paparazzi and seem to tolerate the intrusion in exchange for good publicity. Others are constantly embroiled in battles with the relentless photographers and often end up in court. The question undercutting all of this however is who, in fact, actually owns these celebrities? Celebrity Ownership Despite the pleas on some tearful celebrities, the answer is the people. The same individuals who made ordinary actors, singers, and politicians into celebrities in the first place actually hold the deed on celebrities. So long as celebrities stay in favor with the public, they continue to live a blessed existence of fame and fortune. But if a celebrity loses favor and begins to fade away, they simply cease to exist for much of the world. In some cases they might retain some of the fortune, but the fame is certainly gone. An audience creates a celebrity. Many individuals have starred in movies or performed at concerts without gaining celebrity status. It is only when the world begins to sit up and take notice of an individual that true star status is obtained. This is how stars are born overnight. If people care about the comings and goings of an individual and the media picks up on this interest, news and tabloid coverage will increase. This creates a celebrity. If nobody cares about a singer’s shopping trips or political message, it is a safe bet that individual will not be stalked by paparazzi and won’t be gracing the covers of magazines. Simply, celebrities are selected. The Fickle World Human beings are fickle creatures. The general population may hold a singer in great esteem one year and have moved on completely by the next. In fact, certain television stations and websites have a made a market out of finding these former celebrities and marveling at their now “normal” lives. Other websites offer members the opportunity to demonstrate their flightiest tendencies on a daily basis. Celebrity Websites Certain websites have constructed an algorithm to demonstrate the popularity of celebrities. This algorithm and the celebrity’s popularity equate to a market price, much like a stock price. Members of the site are able to buy and sell celebrities for their personal portfolios and if the celebrity increases in value – both popularity and price, the portfolio value increases. If a celebrity begins to lose value, he is undesirable and dumped. There can be no clearer message about not only the value of celebrities, but also the ownership of celebrities. Just as celebrities in a portfolio can create a return for investors, those same investors take the time to research the celebrities in forums, news articles, and blogs. This research and drive for information increases the celebrity’s popularity and price. When a celebrity fails to generate news, or generates too much bad publicity, the public will simply lose interest, the celebrity loses value, and stardom begins to fade. Celebrities and Plastic Surgery
By Kadence Buchanan
A lot of people are tempted to undergo plastic surgery but are afraid of what it could do to them if things go wrong. Perhaps taking a good look at the celebrities who have failed at their attempts at plastic surgery can show these people that they should be very afraid indeed. Here's a short list of celebrities who have undergone horrible plastic suregry, based on various published reports in publications and on the internet. 1. Michael Jackson Yes, he tops the list of worst plastic surgery cases. Following a series of surgical procedures, Jackson probably now ranks as one of the scariest celebrities on the planet. He used to be a cute black child but now he resembles a pale ghost. You don't have to say a lot about Jackson and this topic because practically everyone has seen the dire results. 2. Melanie Griffith She was once a stunning and fresh-faced beauty, particularly during the eighties, but now that she has put too much collagen on her face, her skins looks much too tight as if she's always tense. Why, some people say she can't even smile anymore. The best she can do is grimace. Of course, there are whispers that drugs have something to do with it as well. 3. Farrah Fawcett Another former knockout whose looks have taken a turn for the worse after plastic surgery is Farrah Fawcett. She was once the queen of the hit series Charlie's Angels and one of the most popular poster girls in the world. Today, after a series of nips and tucks and many more, her face looks deformed, with a nose that is lopsided and eyes that are way too tilted at the ends. 4. Lil Kim Black musician Lil Kim seems to be following the footsteps of Michael Jackson. She's tried to be a little whiter and she's altered her eyes, nose and lips. She once looked soulful and sultry. Now she looks like a gremlin. 5. Kylie Minogue Kylie used to ooze sex appeal. Now, after too many botox treatments, her face looks as tight as a drum. Sure, you don't see any wrinkles on her forehead at all, but her face looks too stiff and unnatural. Celebrities Lead Product Choice
By Juliette Van Rooyen
What is it about famous people that make the rest of us believe that their product choices are better than those made by the rest of us? Why does a celebrity endorsing or using a particular product instantly help to increase the sales of that product? Is it because in many peoples’ minds there is the belief that if you use the same product as a celebrity then you will become more like the celebrity you idolise. There can be a number of different reasons for it, but they aren’t as relevant as the fact. The phenomenon is acknowledged and even encouraged by producers who use celebrity endorsements to sell their products. What many people never consider is that they are being sold products by people that are only famous for very dubious reasons. The reason for fame is often forgotten once a person becomes famous and people who idolise that person tend to overlook any of their negative aspects. All famous people are viewed as role models to other people and included in that is that followers will attempt to imitate them in any way possible. The most common way that fans tend to imitate their stars is in dress and general appearance, but it is not limited to those aspects. The combination is more potent when it’s perceived to be fashion since wearing and using the “celebrity approved” products is believed to automatically transfer fashionable status to the wearer or user. If more than one famous person does something in a certain way or owns the same product, then it becomes the IT product of the moment. An example of that is the Ugg boots that were made very popular due to the hordes of models, actresses and other celebrities photographed wearing them. Suddenly every person who wanted to appear fashionable ran out and bought a pair. This also happens with items like mobile phones and cars, where owning that item will elevate you to the same status as celebrities who own the same item. This happened with the Sidekick 2 by Danger that was used by many celebrities, but became the IT phone when Paris Hilton was photographed using it. This is being predicted to happen again with the iPhone this year since regardless of the level of functionality, it is the most hyped release in the phone department this year. This makes any person who has one and instant fashion leader in their own eyes. Often celebrities get products given to them for use so that the celebrity will be seen using that product which is a practical endorsement. The strange thing is that most famous people are in a financial position that is far better than those that idolise them and are more likely to be able to afford those products in the first place. People spend so long analysing pictures of celebrities to ensure that they can look exactly like them that they begin to lose their own sense of what looks good and what works well for them. Dial-a-Phone has supplied mobile phones on monthly contract to 2.9 million customers, and since it launched in 2000 over 550,000 customers have connected from the website. Further information can be found in the Dialaphone Blog at: http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/blog/

Celebrities - Why The Fuss?
By Michael Russell
We're in a restaurant. We sit down to eat and as we look over in a corner of the establishment we see Phil Rizzuto and his wife sitting there eating a leisurely lunch. We get all excited, run over to Mr. Rizzuto and ask him if he would give us his autograph. He reluctantly takes out a pen and signs our napkin or whatever it is we brought over to him. We then go back to our seat, all smiles and place that napkin in our special bag. Later, when we get home, we frame it and hang it on the wall. It stays there until we ourselves are long gone from this Earth. Good heavens. Why the fuss? Why are we so taken by these celebrities? Why is it that whenever we see one our jaw drops to the floor and it's all we can do to keep from drooling all over ourselves? There are many theories as to why we go crazy over seeing a famous person. We'll explore a couple here, though by no means is this list exhaustive. One of the main reasons psychologists believe that we are so taken by celebrities is because of the dullness of our own lives. We get up, go to work, do our jobs, come home, maybe watch a little TV and then go to bed. Everyday is the same old thing, except maybe on weekends when we might go shopping or to a movie. But for most of us, we really don't have very exciting lives. Getting to meet somebody who is a TV or movie star is probably the most exciting thing that is ever going to happen to us. So when it does, we jump all over it because we may never get another moment like it again. We feel, in a sense, that if we are able to connect, even if for just a moment, with a celebrity, that we are close to being a celebrity ourselves. We can tell people, "Hey, I shook hands with…." . Fill in the blank with your dream celebrity. Unfortunately, for some of us, the reasons and motives aren't quite as pure. For many of us, getting a celebrity's autograph is a ticket to riches. Just take a look on E-Bay and you'll see all the autographed records, baseballs, comics and what-have-you being auctioned off for prices that would make your hair stand on end. There are people who actually make quite a nice living from selling autographed memorabilia. The lengths that these people will go to in order to get this stuff would make Al Capone look like a boy scout. And the worst part about it is they have no shame about it whatsoever. They brazenly advertise all over the Internet, "Autographed 715th home run baseball by Barry Bonds". Of course, this is one thing that is never going to happen because Bonds refuses to autograph any of the home run balls that he hits as he goes after Ruth for second place on the all time home run list. Maybe he's onto something. Whatever the reason we hunger for the touch of our favorite singer or sports start, it is not likely that this craze is going to disappear any time soon. Why Is Dubai Swarmed By Celebrities
By Pankaj Mohan
If you looked on the various news headlines emerging from the Middle East, you will notice a substantial shift taking place in the manner they have been reporting about this region as a whole. From various military coups to the stories of political vendetta; from gun totting hostage takers to the unnerving interpretation of Islam; and from the so-called lack of democratization to the non existent human rights, the Middle East has always had to bear the brunt of hostile news reporting. But, the emerging trade and commerce and tourism activities in Dubai are fundamentally changing this long held stereotyped interpretation of the Muslim world now. Don't be surprised therefore, if the British footballer David Beckham and the Spice Girl Victoria are seen walking out of one of its famous five star hotels, or if the reigning formula one champion Michael Schumacher is spotted unwinding somewhere on its breathtaking shorelines. You will also come to notice some very famous names from the corporate world making regular rounds of this famous city. From top cine stars to sports celebrities and from the multi-billion empire holders to the average holiday making freaks, all are increasingly being seen on Dubai's soil these days. This in itself, speaks a lot of how dramatically the world's vision of the Middle East has transformed. The next round of Dubai Tennis Championships to be held in February and March 2007 will be another treat for the tennis lovers and the media managers both. Names like the William sisters - Serena and Venus and Andre Agassi have played on this venue and enthralled the audiences in the recent past. Equally reported have had been the events like a friendly match organized between Andre Agassi and Roger Federer on the helipad of Burj Al Arab hotel. Tennis balls kept falling down inside the Arabian sea as the two players proceeded with some of their favourite strokes. Not too behind was Tiger Woods who made use of the same helipad for his golf practice. Woods was in Dubai to take part in the Dubai Desert Classic and couldn't resist the temptation of practicing on such a breathtaking height. If the celebrity spotting has become one of the new trends in Dubai's social life, then so is the emerging competition among the hotel owners for making the best out of this pulsating market. They are making all efforts, like building of more niche hotels, to cap this upscale clientele. This means exclusively targeting the business travellers and the multimillionaires from across the globe. Apart from Dubai, Lebanon and Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt have also been trying to raise their stakes. However, the former is well ahead in the race involving these three. Dubai's desire of opening its borers to the outside world has been well received and reciprocated by the latter. As a result we are witnessing the very fundamental image of the Middle East taking a new turn in the global environment. By allowing so many expatriates on its soil, Dubai has made its friendly intentions clear. Expatriates will continue on playing a crucial role in the local economy, hence making the exchange of the Arabian peninsula with the outside world stronger. It speaks of a pleasing scenario, which will continue to get on more shades with each passing day. Pankaj Mohan is an India based freelance writer who often writes on behalf of DubaiFurnishedApartments.com. Have a look on this site to learn about various Dubai beach apartments and the Dubai holiday offers they have in store for you.

Celebrities - Most Popular Presidents
By Michael Russell
Celebrity is not a word that many people really associate with past and present Presidents of the United States. The truth is, the President of the United States is probably the most scrutinized celebrity in all the world. His every word is recorded for posterity and his every move his watched. Some presidents stood up very well to this scrutiny. We're going to take a look at a few who people feel were the most popular of all time. In putting together a most popular list, it would be impossible not to include President John F. Kennedy as one of the most popular of all time. Kennedy was an icon. His life, even before he became President as a hero during World War II as chronicled in the movie PT 109, was one of great accomplishments. Sadly, most of his popularity revolved around his alleged affair with Marilyn Monroe and his untimely death in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963, when he was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. Of course Oswald's guilt was never really proven as he was gunned down by nightclub owner Jack Ruby. Kennedy's Presidency, because of these events, was almost surreal. To this day he is still brought up in newspapers, articles and many other areas of the media including TV and movies. Another very popular president was Ronald Reagan. Part of his popularity may have had something to do with the fact that before he ever even got into politics, Reagan was an actor and a very likable person. His charm and charisma carried over into his political life as Governor of California and as the President of the United States. Reagan brought the country to a time of great prosperity during his two terms in office. Some of his achievements were so innovative that they were known as the Reagan Revolution. But if all this wasn't enough, Reagan was also the victim of an attempted assassination attempt. Fortunately, the attempt was unsuccessful. But this only served to increase his popularity with a country that already loved him. Probably, there was no more popular President of the United States than Franklin D. Roosevelt. Roosevelt became President during one of the worst times in United States history. It was the low point of the Great Depression. At the time he was elected there were over 13 million people unemployed. Almost every bank in the country was closed. But Roosevelt was not afraid of the challenge in front of him. In his first 100 days in office he proposed a program to bring prosperity back to the country. Congress enacted his reform programs, which included the WPA. Aid was given to business and agriculture. Those who were unemployed and in danger of losing their homes and farms were given relief. By 1935 the nation was beginning to pull out of the worst depression in its history. Even though some businessmen and bankers were afraid of his New Deal programs, his popularity with the people of the United States was so great that he was elected to 4 terms of office, the only President in the history of the United States to have that honor. It was because of this that an amendment was made that no President could be elected to more than two terms of office. There were other popular Presidents, but these three were probably the most popular that the United States ever had, at least during a time when popularity was linked to being a celebrity. And these three Presidents were most certainly all celebrities. Michael Russell Your Independent guide to Celebrities

Our Fascination With Celebrities
By Denise Gallimore
Like our fascination in watching an ant (or the entire anthill for that matter) squirm when we angle the magnifying glass just so at the sun, so too goes our fascination with celebrity. As the latest installment of American Idol shows, the average man just wants to be acknowledged and what better way than becoming a 'star'. A lot of us dream of it, very few of us attain it and for those lucky (or unlucky depending on your perspective) to be under the magnifying glass of celebrity the rewards seem to be great. Not having ever been a celebrity myself, although I am somewhat of a 'big cheese' in my home town (smugly buffs nails on shirt), I must say that being a celebrity doesn't seem all bad. I would take the money and the gift bags and the free things and umm did I say money? ... Yeah, I would greatly enjoy the perks of 'celebrityhood' (or is it celebritydom?) any day but how many of us could live up to that scrutiny? To have your every move recorded, your relationships scrutinized, your smallest slip-up or shortcoming discussed by millions (for those of us with large families we already get a taste of this ... Thanks Mom!). Now I know some of you are thinking the money and perks would balance this out but think about the freedom of anonymity you have now, you can pick your nose in public if you want to, you may get a few stares but 'the event' will not be recorded and picked over (pun intended, Ha!) for time immemorial. But why are we so fascinated? Does our fascination help us to feel better about ourselves? Or is it sparked by envy? For whatever reasons celebrity news and gossip is big business and with the latest news being available at our fingertips everyone and their grandmothers has a blog about one celebrity or other. Many of us readily denounce gossiping in our daily lives yet feed our guilty pleasure by logging on to the latest 'most hated celebrity' blogs to see the latest snide comments about this or that person. Our celebrities have become like that poor fried ant. We feel superior as we sit at our desks and look with pity or scorn at the latest young celebrity to end up in jail or forget their panties or fall flat on their face drunk. But alas fame and celebrity are synonymous and as Newton said for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction so too the money and perks cause curiosity and the paparazzi. Now ... since it's been more than an hour since I checked that blog, I'm now off to see what Britney is up to. http://www.denisenicole81.blogspot.com

Even Celebrities Do Calorie Restriction
By Hannah Graham
The phrase "calorie restriction diet" is a bit of a tough sell. It's not the most appealing name because restriction doesn't sound fun. But I see that celebrities are doing calorie restriction. Kym Douglas, the author of the Black Book of Hollywood Secrets says, "The biggest secret I learned from celebrities is that they don't do "diet food". They eat the real thing, just not a lot of it. "I remember sitting down to breakfast with Elizabeth Hurley and being shocked that she was having real bacon with her eggs, not turkey or tofu bacon. And she said: "I'm just going to have a salad for lunch and a little dinner, so it's fine. But I'm not going to have fake bacon." Now, I don't tend to turn to celebrities for inspiration and I hate the size zero mentality that is so ingrained in Hollywood. I do think that calorie restriction is the most effective way to lose weight, however. So for fun I'm going to list some of the items in the A to Z list of Hollywood's hottest diet tips: A FOR ASPARAGUS: Celebrities live on this because it's a natural diuretic and gets rid of bloating. B FOR BRUSH YOUR TEETH: A nutritionist advised her famous young client that the best way to maintain her mere 15 per cent body fat was to use a toothbrush after every meal. And a craze was begun. Using a toothbrush signals to your brain that you are full. ...and BENEFIBER: Sprinkle it on your salad or in your coffee because it helps move food through you system more quickly. C FOR COOKIE: Celebrities such as singer Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson follow the Cookie Diet. In other words, they "eat a cookie, skip a meal." They eat a healthy dinner of several hundred calories and eat only calories or biscuits at other meal times. They lose weight because it's based on calorie restriction. ... and CINNAMON: Celebrities sprinkle it in their tea because it supposedly can lower cholesterol and blood sugar. E FOR EPSOM SALTS: The salts draw fluids out of your body. Heidi Klum and other stars use these before filming and photo shoots. I FOR ICE LOLLIES: Oprah Winfrey likes iced fruit bars because they take a long time to eat and also satisfy her sweet tooth. L FOR LICORICE: Eat a piece of licorice or a strong breath mint when you're hungry. It numbs the taste buds. M FOR MATCHA GREEN TEA: One cup cup of matcha green tea is the equivalent of 8-10 cups of regular green tea. This boosts the metabolism and is an appetite suppressant. P FOR PRUNES: Hollywood nutritionists suggest including four chopped-up prunes with the ground beef when you cook a hamburger. It reduces the fat by 40 percent and the prunes are tasteless so you won't notice that they are there. Q FOR QUICK SUGAR FIX: One Los Angeles bun shop is particularly popular with Hollywood celebrities. Many of them order a tiny paper cup filled with icing instead of a big cinnamon roll. That way they satisfy their sweet tooth without eating the calories. S FOR SUSHI: Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie love sushi. This seaweed is loaded with vitamins, has few calories and can lower cholesterol. V FOR VEGANISM: Alicia Silverstone says that going vegan is the key to lasting weight loss: "I swear it's so easy. You don't have to have a diet mentality at all if you eat healthy, plant-based foods." W FOR WEDGE SHOES: According to Hollywood stylists the footwear that makes you look the thinnest. Cameron Diaz, Jessica Simpson and Gwen Stefani all wear wedges for that reason. Stylists love them for cover shoots as it makes the featured actress look taller and slimmer. That's only a partial list but you get the idea. These are tips that even real people like you and me can use. I'm making a mental note to try the icing tip sometime. I think I'll pass on the wedges, however. Visit http://www.sixworddiet.com to learn about a fun new calorie restriction diet. There's also a complete list of these celebrity tips in the Six Word Diet forum (www.sixworddiet.com/forum).

Are Celebrities Happy
By CD Mohatta
Before we ask the question - are celebrities happy, let us first find out what is happiness? If you feel good for an hour every day, and horrible for the rest of the day, are you happy? What if you are happy for eight hours a day and feel down for the remaining sixteen hours, are you a happy person? For most of us, happiness is a state that is not permanent. We are not happy throughout the day. At least majority of us are not. What is happiness? Happiness means a sense of deep contentment. A cheerful outlook. An attitude of positive thoughts. A person who has these qualities is happy during all the times of the day. How about celebrities then? They have name, fame and wealth. They can, not only buy whatever they desire, but they can also buy a loved one. They can buy anything. Their name is splashed around in the media most of the times. Every news about them is awaited by the general population. Celebrities may not have been born with a silver spoon in the mouth, but the current spoon is mostly that of gold. So they must be happy! Don't we think so. But sadly, happiness is away from most of the celebrities. Speaking of contentment, most of them are not only not feeling any contentment, but are frustrated. Their every movement is captured by the media. They are always in the public eye. So they try to hide. They are jealous at times of the common man. And they have no deep sense of peace in them. Rather their life and minds are full of turbulence most of the times. They are at times so dissatisfied with their own life that they wish to run away from themselves. This they cannot do, and therefore substances that take them away from their own realities are often used by them. Happiness has something to do with money, but only to an extent. Happiness has nothing to do with fame, if you are not satisfied with yourself. Whatever the world may say, unless one has self-esteem, one can never be happy. All of us sail in the same boat. Most of us are living unhappy lives most of the time. Let us get happiness that will give us a satisfied sense of living. Let us strive for happiness in our own inner world. Celebrities Love Botox
By Sharon A Bell
Virginia Madsen is one Hollywood star who’s open about her Botox treatments. Rather than hide them, Madsen isn’t ashamed to admit that she uses the procedure conservatively not for her fans or a guy but to feel great about herself. "I don't want to be 25. I'm 45. I love the way I look. I feel better than I ever have in my life,” the sexy star said. As the model for the “Keep the Wisdom, Lose the Lines” campaign of the National Women’s Health Resource Center, Madsen hopes to educate women about injectable cosmetic treatments. Desperate Housewives’ star Teri Hatcher can’t seem to make up her mind whether or not she loves Botox. Last year, she admitted being a Botox fan in the past but decided that she would rather age naturally and gracefully. "I haven't had anything done to my face in over a year. And I don't plan to. It needs to be OK to have wrinkles," she told fans. This year, she told the Daily Express that she never had Botox injections nor does she plan to get them. Since it was approved for cosmetic purposes in 2002, Botox’s popularity has grown by leaps and bounds. Celebrities like Sylvester Stallone, Elizabeth Hurley, Ryan Seacrest, Celine Dion, Madonna, Cher, Kim Cattrall, and Kylie Minogue are suspected of using it. But the Botox Club isn’t confined to TV or movie stars. Thousands of men and women all over the world rely on this non-surgical procedure to fight wrinkles and the number of converts is increasing. “The reason Botox has become so popular is due to the simplicity of the procedure. It does not require hospital admission, there are no surgical scars, no anesthesia and the results are visible in a few days,” according to an article in MediIndia.Com. Botox is the brand name of the botulinum toxin type A, the purified form of the toxin secreted by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. When taken in large amounts, this toxin causes the food poisoning botulism. In small doses, Botox paralyzes specific muscles and stops them from contracting. This relaxes the muscles around wrinkles and makes the latter less noticeable. Botox is currently used by doctors as a temporary treatment for moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet, and wrinkles on the forehead. “Not all facial wrinkles benefit from Botox injections, however. Botox won't reverse wrinkling caused by sun damage. Also, it's less effective treating the lines around your mouth because muscles in this area are needed for eating and talking. Your skin type, skin thickness and degree of wrinkling all play a role in determining whether these injections are effective for you,” said the MayoClinic.Com. Moreover, the procedure is not free from side effects. Adverse reactions include pain and bruising at the injection site, redness, headache, nausea, and temporary facial weakness. At the hands of an inexperienced doctor, Botox injections can be dangerous. For your safety and protection, choose a board certified physician. If you’d rather be sure than sorry, use a product that works like Botox like the Rejuvinol AM/PM Botox Alternative Age-Defying System. This anti-aging system combines the power of the Rejuvinol morning moisturizer that creates firmer, healthier, and younger-looking skin; and the Rejuvox night cream that reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Celebrities - 15 Minutes Of Fame
By Michael Russell
Celebrities, for the most part, stand the test of time. Once they become stars, they remain stars until the day they die and even beyond. But there is another type of celebrity. This kind is known as the "fleeting celebrity". They are said to have their "15 minutes of fame", which was a phrase coined by the late Andy Warhol. Our culture has seen a number of these 15 minute wonders. We're going to take a look at just a few of them here. Why don't we start off with two for the price of one? Remember quite a few years ago when a 16 year old girl by the name of Amy Fisher had an affair with a guy by the name of Joey Buttafuco? Amy ended up shooting the guy's wife in the head and ended up going to prison for 6 years. Today, nobody gives her or Joey a second thought. Then of course there was Monica Lewinsky who had sex with President Bill Clinton. Of course Clinton's celebrity status has not diminished since, but Lewinsky has so fallen off the radar map that today nobody even knows where this woman is or what she's doing. Then there was the big scandal in the late 80s involving Jim Bakker, who began the Praise The Lord Ministry in Fort Hill, South Carolina in 1974. A big sex scandal and some shady business dealings involving the PTL landed Bakker in prison for 45 years. Most people today don't even give him a second thought. In the world of music, a guy by the name of Carl Douglas gave us the totally ridiculous song "Kung Fu Fighting". While Douglas may have been yesterday's news after that song mercifully fell off the charts, the song itself has been in more Kung Fu movies than you can possibly imagine. But NOBODY remembers who did it. And then of course there was the novelty song of the 90s, "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred. These bald headed brothers probably grew hair after this total embarrassment of a song. Neither one of them has been heard from since and the song only gets played as a parody. A very bad one. In the world of comedy, there was probably no greater 15 minute of fame star than the one and only Unknown Comic. Murray Langston, who was so desperately in need of money at the time, didn't want his friends to know so he put a bag over his head and appeared on the "Gong Show". He was an instant hit. He also burned out faster than a speeding nova. And of course who could ever forget the incomparable Blossom Rock? (who)? She just happened to play the grandmother on the short lived TV show "The Adams Family". Rock was actually the little known sister of the famous actress Jeanette McDonald. Obviously she didn't have quite he luck or he talent. And the list goes on and on. So many that lasted so briefly. Makes you really appreciate those who have stood the test of time. Celebrities - Privacy Vs. Publicity
By Michael Russell
Celebrities. Don't we just love them? We are a world obsessed with famous people. When we see one of our favorite actors hosting an awards show, something we normally wouldn't even think of wasting time viewing, we sit glued to our TV hanging on their every word and action, especially if we're watching a living legend. It's a moment we'll talk about for years to come, especially if we happened to be in the audience and got to see our hero live. Talk about being able to die happy. On a recent episode of Boston Legal we saw a celebrity shoot a reporter who was about to take a photo of her because he jumped out from behind a garbage can and she was startled and thought he had a gun. She claims she shot in self defense. The question was, would the jury buy it? The prosecutor's case was that it's okay for the celebrity to get all the perks of being able to go into a fancy restaurant and be seated even without a reservation, among other things, but then they want to be a big star and have their privacy too. The defense made the case of other celebrities being assaulted, some killed even. He brought up John Lennon's murder as an example. His argument was that even celebrities have a right to some privacy. We're not going to try to answer the question of who's right and who's wrong. The jury decided in favor of the celebrity. But that's just TV. We know that real life can be quite different. The sad truth is, celebrities are not like other people. They are constantly in the public eye, either in movies, TV, theater, radio, or whatever specialty they are involved in. Many of us would argue that they have no problem being paid $1 million for one TV episode, but try taking one lousy photo of them and they go crazy. Others would say that they are entitled to the same privacy as you or I, even though they may have a job that puts them in the public eye. After all, if you're a carpenter, nobody is following you around town trying to take your photo every five minutes. So, what's the answer? Maybe laws need to be made. This is not suggesting that the laws be in favor of the celebrity or against. But some kind of law governing what are reasonable and unreasonable actions in regard to how much "space" a celebrity should be given when not "working". Should they be allowed to be approached in a supermarket when doing their weekly food shopping? Or should their be laws stating that they can only be approached 15 minutes before or after coming off the "set" where they work, whether it be a TV station, radio station or movie set? Most likely laws like this will never be enacted or even if they are, enforced. That is just the way it is. It has been like this since the beginning of celebrity status. It has killed many in the past and most likely will end up killing many more before this madness is over. Michael Russell Your Independent guide to Celebrities

Celebrities - Child Stars
By Michael Russell
Many of us grew up watching young children make names for themselves on the nightly sitcoms. Whether it was Lucile Ball, Ron Howard or Gary Coleman every era had its share of child actors. We all wondered how great it could be to have such astonishing successes and wealth at quite an early age. The sky was the limit for these child celebrities because for the most part they weren't gaining fame solely based off of their age and stature, these children were really good actors. If they were that good at such a young age they would surely be masters of their crafts by time they hit their adulthood. Unfortunately except for certain rare cases many of the stories of the once prosperous child celebrities are rather tragic ones. From poverty to drug addiction, these celebrities rarely turn out the way one would expect them to. So why is it that for the most part child celebrities don't succeed in the long run? When we were young children our parents use to tell us to enjoy it while it lasted! We would wonder what they were talking about as to us childhood wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. In fact many of us couldn't wait to grow up. What we didn't understand was the fact that, for at least 16 years of our lives we weren't going to be called upon to work, nor were we expected to be overly responsible. On the flip side of that we also weren't given everything we asked for nor did we expect anyone to bow down or constantly stroke our egos. All this is what constitutes being a child. You don't get much but you're not expected to do much either. Sadly child celebrities never had an opportunity to experience these things. Their childhood in a sense was non existent. They lived in a world where they were expected to be the sole bread winners of their families and their immediate nucleus of society would cater to their every need. To say that was a far cry from the real society is an understatement. Child celebrities have an extremely hard time adjusting to the real world after their initial success wares off. There are so many factors at work here that it's hard to blame them. The fact that they were the cute lovable child on television is the very thing that stunts their ability to get any serious work after they outgrow this stage. All most of society remembers and wants to see from these child celebrities is the cute lovable role they made famous. Some of you might be saying that there should be life after acting especially since they made a considerable amount of money. This should be the truth but in a lot of cases these child celebrities' parents quit their own jobs and used the child's income to support the rest of the family. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that at this rate the money doesn't last long. Anyone who has ever taken the stage or field and felt the admiration of a crowd will tell you that this feeling is as addictive as any drug. Grown adults have a hard time dealing with no longer being in the limelight so you can only imagine the effect it would have on these child celebrities. They say your most impressionable years are when you're between 4 and 8 years of age. Many of these child celebrities were already working during those years. Acting is all they know and it is quite hard to adapt to anything else. What was once a euphoric feeling from a crowd of admirers is usually replaced with drugs and alcohol! There are many child celebrities that have made great careers from themselves in the adult age but when the comparison of the amount of failures and the magnitude of these failures is made its clear to see that creating a child celebrity might not be in the best interest of most parents.

Coaching Celebrities
By Mary Gardner
I’ve kept the same cell phone number for the past 7-8 years. I’ve lived in NYC, NC and now Florida and in all that time, I’ve never changed phone numbers. Nor will I. Sure, it’s inconvenient for my mom who lives across town to have to dial a NYC phone to get me and I’m only a few miles away, but for me it’s worth it. I have clients that still call me periodically for coaching that used this cell phone years ago. They like knowing that I’m just a call away if they need me. Several of these clients would probably have names that you might recognize, and don’t use a coach on a regular basis, but if the need arises, they know I’m there. I’ve spent a large part of my career working with and for celebrities. Whether I marketing for them, do PR for them or consult and coaching with the them, I’ve made a part of my career working in that market. As a result, I’ve gotten to know many agents, publicists and Event Planners. I also coach individuals in business. Right now, it seems that a large bulk of my clients are in new jobs, businesses or about to make a transition. I don’t work by contract, only on an as needed basis. Some of my clients show up every week. Others are clients that are only once a month. I’m flexible because my clients are busy. So am I, and I’m fine with them rescheduling with me a day in advance. I started coaching this way because the high profile clients that I served couldn’t meet on a regular basis. They were traveling or unavailable at normal business times so I made allowances for them. As my business and experience grew, I found that working with high profile types was going to be different than a traditional client that may be. I work on a project basis with many of these high profile types. Some of them are high level executives, besides celebrities and I’m there as a personal consultant that they call upon for many different issues. Most of them found me through the communication coaching that I provide and we’ve kept the relationship going through the years. Whenever they call I merely write it down and keep a log. I usually bill once a month. On projects, I’ll estimate a cost for the project and always try to come in under the estimate. I have clients that will fly in for the day and for that, my fees are a bit higher than on the phone. It’s a concentrated coaching session that can deal with family issues to creating a work out schedule or recreating a brand or speech. We’ve discovered projects to create that they can market and we’ve written the outline of books. I noticed right up front that celebrities are keenly aware that people try to make a buck off of them so I actually charge them less in some cases. Regardless, overestimating the bill is the way to go, and they always appreciate the financial break. I learned this early on when I had a repeat customer and I sent a bill that she questioned. She didn’t feel that I had put in that much time with her so I told her that I had struggled with the bill myself because the project was so “off and on”. So, I told her to rip up my invoice and to pay me what she thought she should. I got a nice check in the mail that was just a little bit less than I had originally charged and it had a nice note attached. It was definitely the right decision because I’ve continued to coach this person here and there over the last many years. Coaching high profile types are a great gig if you can get it. But don’t make the mistake of holding to your exact requirements or you might lose a client in the process. The ones that I know appreciate my willingness to be flexible with my schedule and to reschedule if something else comes up. I’m fair with the money and I always try to deliver more than promised. I love the coaching people who are successful, energetic and ambitious. They never refuse a challenge and they’re always up for new ideas. They appreciate others who are hard working like them. That is why I keep my cell phone number the same. Being available to these people is the name of the game. Mary Gardner is an Executive Communications Consultant/coach who was an agent for celebrities for years. In addition, she's been a publicist, and TV professional who loves being around successful people... celebrities included!

Celebrities In Panama
By Mona Sutherland
In January, Brad Pitt and wife Angelina Jolie visited Panama to see the construction site and scale model of the building to be inaugurated in 2008 as the Biodiversity Museum, designed by Frank O. Ghery. The Pitts enjoyed lunch and studied the scale model for over an hour, appreciating the different views the building will soon have. Brad and Angelina also explored the Casco Viejo, wandering among the spectacular colonial buildings, and then set off to spend the night in the Anton Valley, located in the country’s interior about a two hour drive from Panama City. The national press speculated that Pitt and Jolie considered investing in Panama real estate while touring the country. In March, Mel Gibson visited Panama, presumably to scout locations for production of his next film. During his five days in Panama, he explored various hotel properties, including Gamboa, Villa Camilla in Azueros, Bocas del Toro, Darien and Playa Bonita, each beach locations or in close proximity to the ocean. It has been rumored that Mel Gibson had a meeting with a real estate agent in Panama, though we cannot say for sure what transpired. Miguel Bose, the Panamanian born Spanish singer, recently visited and bought a condominium in a luxurious building located in the interior of Panama. The condominium is on the beach and possesses a spectacular ocean view. However, we are not sure if he bought the condo as an investment or for personal use. Without a doubt, the first months of the year have been interesting for Panama. Though the country is small, in a couple of years it may be more likely to spot a celebrity here than on the streets of Hollywood. Learn more about Panama Real Estate on Latin America Real Estate TV! Mona Sutherland graduated summa cum laude from UCLA in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Currently, Mona is the Search Marketing Specialist for WSI Panama. Tattoo Celebrities
By Kh Tan
Body art has become an accessory, like pocket-sized dogs and expensive purses, and the number of celebrities with tattoos is on the rise. Modern tattoos are artistic, stylish, and even sexy. From Nashville to Hollywood, many of today's hottest and most fashion conscience stars are inked. Famous tattooed people abound, although it may be difficult to break through the shroud of secrecy surrounding them. The world of rock 'n' roll has plenty of tattoo representatives, including Madonna and Sean 'Puff Daddy' Combs, Ozzy Osborne (whose many tattoos include a portrait of his wife) and Gil Montie of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Montiles back is covered with a design based on the art of Haida Indians, while Robbie Williams has several bold, black, tribal-influenced tattoos which receive plenty attention in his stage shows and videos. Other inked pop stars include Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Eminem, Tommy Lee, and many more. Tattoos are often on display on the sports field. Dennis Rodman, the US basketball star, is well known for his body adornments, as is English footballer David Beckham. The boxer Mike Tyson has a provocative tattoo of Mao Tse-tung, while Maradona has Che Guevara tattooed on one shoulder. Other tattooed athletes include Laila Ali, Anna Kournikova and The Rock. Strolling down the red carpet, we have Angelina Jolie who is one of the most famous Hollywood celebrities with tattoos. With over twelve tattoos, she is a tattoo collector. Even for Jennifer Aniston with a girl-next-door sweetie nature reportedly has a heart tattoo on her stomach. Sometimes, body art tattoos can be a group affair, just like Orlando Bloom and his other eight lord of the ring fellowships got matching body art in elfin theme. Although celebrities frequently favour flamboyant statements, many actors and models have small strategically placed tattoos. For example, Chrisrty Turlington has a discreet red rose on her ankle, and a Chinese symbol and a heart are inscribed on Julia Roberts's body. Tattoos are undeniably chic. Tattoos can be spiritual, symbolic or merely decorative. We see many celebrities in the west and east inscribe tattoos on their body. In fact, most have carried off their tattoos very well. The tattoo represents and symbolizes them in a way or another. It magnifies their personalities and characters, portraying an esthetically pleasing and healthy image to the public. You, too, can stand out like a celebrity by having a tattoo that suits and represents you. Become one of the celebrities to adorn a symbolic tattoo on your body parts, look for latest cool tattoo designs at http://www.cooltattoodesign.com

Privacy of Celebrities
By David Skul
Enjoying your afternoon tea in your home alone with your favorite muffins? Imagine Justin Timberlake doing just that. Well, it can be almost impossible. Being a celebrity means you are now a public property. You can no longer walk alone in the malls. You cannot sip your drinks during breakfast alone anymore. People will scream around you and fight for your autograph. It is hard to walk around without people interrupting you now and then for autograph. That has not included paparazzi snapping your pictures. Snapping picture of you filling up the petrol is not dangerous, right? Picture this. You are a celebrity. You have tons of fans. They went to your concert and stay for the signing session. You sit on the table for 3 hours giving autographs. Your hands ached and people go home satisfied having your autograph. Being a celebrity, you cannot be absolutely sure that all of your fans are angelic. If not your own fans, maybe their friends or acquaintances will be the not-so-innocent one. The autograph they attain from you can be forged. And all kinds of dangers will be exposed to you. Professional forgers will be able to copy your autograph in no time. And who might know, they will eventually tag along with you and eventually steal your valuable things. Using the signature they have duplicated from your autograph, they will be able to use your credit card easily. Not that they cannot do it in the first place but once they “learn” your autograph, they can use the credit card to its maximum. Celebrity of course will have a collection of this plastic magic and these smart thieves will only need one of them. They shop; they dine and have fun under your name. What is even worse than going on shopping spree with a credit card is when they have access to all your valuable accounts. As a celebrity is famous enough for everybody to know, criminal cam initiate a celebrity from top-to-toe and access the celebrity’s bank account. Using their signature, criminals are able to get whatever they wanted. People may think that it is ridiculous to think that way but a case has proved to be true. One of Robert de Niro’s look alike has been caught for forging his autograph while staying at a hotel. Forging de Niro’s autograph and claiming to be him is made it even easier. So it will not be at all difficult if other people try to do the same thing next time. Who knows that this will start a series of new crimes? This however does not mean that celebrities should stop giving away autographs. What another alternative that a celebrity can take is that maybe they can opt to have different autograph; one for the fan and another for a more formal business. It may be a bit tiring but it is better to be well-equipped. An autograph my just be another scribbling game, so why not scribble even more. Reluctant Celebrities
By Russel Clark
Every once in a while the media come across people who shy away from the fame and the glamour that is bestowed on them. They don't crave for the limelight that 9 out of 10 people amongst the rich and the famous would, stardom is something that just happened on the way to achieving what they wanted to. Their ultimate aim wasn't being glamorous and well known but earning fame in the field they chose. They are called reluctant celebrities and sometimes we at the media accidentally stumble upon such stars who don't like the unwanted attention and the poking and prying into their lives. Actually come to think of it there are quite a few celebrities who like their stardom till a certain limit beyond which they guard their privacy fiercely. Entertainment news will get you updates on the so called reluctant celebrities too, celebrities who lead guarded lives away from the glare of the media. Entertainment news is different because we would get you news of even those celebrities who actually did something worthwhile to earn the fame and the fortune. This isn't only about run of the mill celebs like Katie Price who'd do anything to secure the attention of the newspapers and the shutterbugs or even Kevin Federline, Britney Spears ex husband who loved to bask in the glory of his wife's past musical fortunes. The news shall get you stories on the celebrities from the literary world too, the ones who shut themselves up for months altogether to produce one masterpiece after another. It shall give you valuable news too. Who can forget Ernest Hemingway, nicknamed "Papa" because he was also a part of the community known as the expatriate community in Paris that was moreover known as "the lost generation". Leading the colorful life that he did which included four marriages and a number of divorces the writer could not help but grab the attention of the media even if he did not want to. However his work spoke volumes of his talent as a littérateur as he was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1954 for his contribution to the world of English literature. His gruesome death at the end evoked the inquisitiveness of the media still more as he ended his own life in a bizarre fashion. Thus Black Entertainment News shall get you all the news of such reluctant celebrities who like living away from the clutches of the media. We shall also get you stories of past celebrities like Ernest Hemingway who in their time were the favorites of the media. This shall also enlighten about the latest in tinsel town. Extra Entertainment News shall get you news from the sidelines of the entertainment industry. Russell Clark owns and operates the website Celebrity Predictions

Bankrupt Celebrities
By Billy Baxter
Hiding behind all the glitz and glamour and what may seem like unusual celebreties are those who get bankrupt fairly frequently, though it's also the case that they come through it quite often as well. This could quite well be the reason behind Clarissa Dickson Wright being bankrupt not once but thrice! It was said that the first time was due to the champagne bill at her mother’s funeral! The list of bankrupt celebreties is extensive and consists of celebreties from all walks of life from senators to TV stars to football players and movie stars. Often the reason for these bankruptcies is that money is aquired quickly and when the checks come in, it doesn’t seem like they will ever stop. It's like a dream and many celebreties don’t know how to deal with it and accordingly end up in excesses that they can’t afford. Take for instance Kim Basinger who was said of all things to have bought an entire town! Kim Basinger bought the entire town of Braselton, Georgia for 20 million dollars and after being sued for a breach of contract not only had to sell Braselton but also file for bankruptcy. While in her case it was one major expense that led to her demise, in cases of most celebreties it is a series of excesses and regular expenses that they can't afford once their good times end and the checks stop rolling in as they once did. Mike Tyson was said for instance to need $400,000 a month to maintain his life style but after filing bankruptcy now lives on a modest rented house in Phoenix. Although it might seem unusual the reason why many celebreties go on this spending spree is that they genuinely assume that it is never going to end. Imagine; you are making money and getting a certain amount of salary and would think that this is an end less stream of money that you will continue to generate through out life. In your case in normal circumstances it will be true because as you gain experience and advance in your career your salary will only increase. However, think of it from the point of view of a celebrity as they also think along the same lines. They also think that their earnings will be an endless stream which will not end. Although, what they do not realize is that unlike a normal salaried person their golden period will end and what they are making at this time is probably highly skewed and can’t keep on making it for the rest of their life. This is true for actors as well as athletes. They can’t really expect a 10% raise on what they are making till the end of their life. When money comes and comes in fast, it's difficult for celebreties to think that it will ever stop. To such an extent that they even start ignoring the bad news. For instance an actress might ignore a bad review of her movie when she should probably take stock of it, see if something is wrong and then takes care of it. The problem of bankrupt celebreties is so acute that it has sprung up an industry of its own with professionals who advise these celebreties to manage their wealth and to basically keep a check on their excesses. These financial tamers watch over the back of their clients and prevent them from buying things which can spin out of control like late comedian Rod Hull who bought an Elizabethan Mansion in 1987 for 387,000 pounds and spent another 500,000 pounds in restoring it. The house was soon repossessed as he faced massive tax arrears and was in a problem that he couldn’t quite control. While celebreties may even add a little glitz to what is indeed a dark problem, one must keep in mind that there are lessons to be learned from them and like them we also feel the need to indulge in excesses too often. While indulgence is not bad and may even be necessary some times, be sure that you don’t end up in something that becomes disease like and more than that be careful that you don’t spend on something that requires monthly pay checks. What was probably a 20 million dollars town to Kim Basinger could well be a 100,000 dollars sports car for you! This article has been supplied courtesy of Billy Baxter.
